it’s the late 18th century. you’re on an island off the atlantic coast of france. you’ve been comissioned to paint a portrait of a soon-to-be bride for her fiancé. it’s a rainy afternoon as she poses for you, and the silence is filled with the crackling of the fireplace. you can’t help but notice the way she hides her smile when she sees you looking at her.
